GUITARS
it’s the most popular instrument to play, but i don’t think everyone knows how annoying it can get. with acoustics, it’s simple, yet so complicated. why? because, sometimes, you don’t like barring and yea, get a capo, use your “music theory” or “musical knowledge” and play it in a different key. but the easy way is to simply, “lower the action” BUT WAIT. one can’t just simply, lower the action because if you look closely at a tuner, most of the notes aren’t even “true” notes and sometimes, the strings are too close to the neck and it makes that dumb scratch, twangy noise on the frets and now you gotta do it again but this time be precise. and when you raise it, it becomes outta tune and then you gotta live with it. luckily, my guitar is at the spot where everything is peach and playing notes are fine.
NOW ELECTRICS. worse. thing. ever. there’s tensioners (which fine tune the notes to be true notes), nuts, saddles, what the freak and action! i tune these things every time. it’s super dumb. i sat in front of my tuner to fix my tension to play the right notes, so when i go down the frets they’re all clean notes not the “de-nee” or “duh-nuuuh”, it’s “nee-nee” and “duhn-duhn (if you can decipher that, kudos and props to you). why play and mess with the guitar in the first place if it gets you frustrated? well, because i play music. and when it comes to playing, there comes a time when you’re experienced enough that sour, out of tune notes get dumb-annoying. i like fine-tuned things, i like listening to music and it sounding clean. and yea, probably a bad idea to do it myself, but hey, you learn. in about a week, i probably have to do it again and that’s what guitars are like.
oh yea, if you’re an avid player, vibe with me when i say this: these guitars/accessories/parts are expensive. i got a tuner pedal for 104 dollars and the next investment and future investments will average in a total cost of 1,000 dollars. but for now, here is the list, since i play in the worship band and it’s essential.
volume pedal (average): $90-$100
volume pedal (best): $150-$200
delay (average): $160-$180
delay (best): $200-$350
there’s more, but i’m actually too lazy to actually state them all. there’s no such thing as “good” when it comes to equipment, it’s either great or horrible.
but don’t get me wrong, i love playing guitar and stuff, but maintenance, tuning, and other things to make things work, so difficult.
